Immanent in Nervous Activity (vinyl LP)

Jim O\'Rourke, Giovanni Di Domenico - Immanent in Nervous Activity (vinyl LP)
Riding the razor's edge between bristling electroacoustic wizardry and the constrained structures and harmonic interplay of musical minimalism, "Immanent in Nervous Activity" is Die Schachtel's new release from the creative partnership of Giovanni Di Domenico and Jim O'Rourke, joining the conversant vision of two of the most striking voices within the field of contemporary sound.
Comprising a single long-form work, divided into two movements that culminate as a second chapter to the duo's 2015 LP, "Arco"—an album which endeavored, on visionary terms, after the potential of waiting and patience as means toward musical form—their latest adventure, recorded in Japan with further contributions by Eiko Ishibashi on flute and Tatsuhisa Yamamoto on snare, rolls at a glacial pace, deftly weaving tension into restrained sheets of tonality, texture, and harmonic dissonance that ripple with microscopic detail and a stunning sense of structure.
Edition of 400 copies, metallic silver print, incl. fold-out poster.

Null, Günter Müller, Voice Crack, Evan Parker, Phill Niblock, Mats Gustafsson, Tony Conrad, Faust, Space Streakings, Loose Fur, Fennesz, Diskaholics Anonymous Trio, Carlos Giffoni, Keiji Haino, Masami Akita, Masaya Nakahara, Takehisa Kosugi, Fire!, Akira Sakata, Oren Ambarchi, Stephen O'Malley, Kassel Jaeger, Anthony Burr, John Fahey, Tortoise, Stereolab, Red Crayola, Guided By Voices, Merzbow...
Pianist, performer and composer Giovanni Di Domenico (born 1977 in Rome, lives and works in Brussels) has carved a deep path through a diverse number of discrete fields within experimental music, working in various ensembles—Abschattungen, AufHeben, Bonjintan, Cement Shoes, Delivery Health, Going, etc.—as well as producing a discography of critically heralded solo efforts, and intimate collaborations with Jim O'Rourke, Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, Akira Sakata, Arve Henriksen, Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, Alexandra Grimal, Nate Wooley, Chris Corsano, and others. Di Domenico has founded his own label, Silent Water, home of an eclectic and occasionally unclassifiable production.
