Poésie Concrète

 - Poésie Concrète
A study of the body of concrete poetry in the MAMCO collection.
Concrete poetry is a form of experimental poetry that does not appeal to syntax or rhythm and considers the poem as a visual and sensitive object regardless of its meaning.
MAMCO has devoted a semi-permanent exhibition space to Concrete poetry since 2016, resulting in the acquisition of a significant group of works falling under this label. This includes the purchase of the Steven Leiber collection, which features important figures such as Ian Hamilton Finlay and the Brazilian brothers Augusto and Haraldo de Campos. This publication examines this collection for the first time by means of a careful selection of works. The reader is introduced here to a different vision of modernity, presented by a museum that, to a large extent, reflects the legacy of modernist utopias and their critique.
Works by Julien Blaine, Jean-François Bory, Bob Cobbing, Natalie Czech, Augusto & Haraldo de Campos, Ian Hamilton Finlay, John Furnival, Pierre & Ilse Garnier, Dom Sylvester Houédard, Richard Kostelanetz, Ferdinand Kriwet, Franz Mon, Maurizio Nannucci, Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt.
Texts by Paul Bernard, Gabriele Detterer, Maurizio Nannucci.
