Speckled Toshe

Speckled Toshe, co-founded in 2019 by Yann Chateigné and Laurent Schmid as a sublabel of activeRat, produces vinyl editions directly with visual artists or in collaboration with selected curators. The founding idea of the project is to make sound based artworks accessible on a durable medium while complementing these carefully edited releases with texts written specifically for each project. Speckled Toshe aims to realise objects whose production steps such as mastering, lacquer cut and pressing are developed in close dialogue with specialised practitioners. Equal importance is given to the accompanying elements of cover, booklet and text, understood as integral parts of the artistic work. Speckled Toshe's ambition is to create a series of artist editions of high artistic and editorial quality.
