Noël Dolla's iconoclastic artistic approach defies categories. This book seeks to explore the heterogeneity of Dolla's works to better demonstrate the singular common thread between them.
For his exhibition at Villa Arson in Nice in the Summer of 2013, Noël Dolla chose to present both a solo and group exhibition, thus inviting about 80 artists, mostly friends and companions, young and old. Under the title “Free entry but not mandatory”, the exhibition covered a large part of Villa Arson's spaces, nearly 23,000 m2, and was designed to shake up traditional display of artworks. In the eponymous book co-edited by Blackjack editions and the Villa Arson the work of the artist is arranged organically, through a set of intuitive and subjective associations. With no chronological order nor media partitioning, Entrée libre mais non obligatoire is the 448 pages story of an unlikely artistic trajectory.
