L'oreille voleuse (vinyl LP)

Brunhild Ferrari, Eiko Ishibashi, Jim O\'Rourke - L\'oreille voleuse (vinyl LP)
Brunhild Ferrari's new work L'oreille voleuse (The Thieving Ear) and an extraordinary live reinterpretation by Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O'Rourke, recorded in October 2025 in Paris.
A whole world of location recordings come together in a fluid, blink-and-you'll-miss-it palimpsest of place, as we move around different atmospheres, languages, places. Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O'Rourke's sinuous interpretation with live electronics and flute brings a differently cinematic quality to the work.

"Without listening at doors, the ear captures noises here and there and unexpected sounds without choice, but remains attentive to the messages of each one picked up over the years. It gathers surprises and impressions, bringing them together in a simple mix. In waking up these ear memories again, which were mostly recorded on magnetic tapes, I am very happy about the collaboration of Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O'Rourke in playing on this mix tape."

Brunhild Meyer (born 1937) became Brunhild Meyer-Ferrari after she married with Luc Ferrari. She has been his closest collaborator for more than forty years.
Eiko Ishibashi is a Japanese composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist who has developed a unique body of work blending experimental pop, improvisation, and film music. Her work, praised for its expressive intensity and sensitivity to sonic textures, has led her to collaborate with numerous musicians on the international scene, including Jim O'Rourke, with whom she forms a long-standing duo, Keiji Haino, Charlemagne Palestine, Merzbow, Akira Sakata, Giovanni Di Domenico, Atsuko Hatano, John Duncan, and Oren Ambarchi. She is also the composer of several film scores, notably for the films of Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car, Evil Does Not Exist), which have helped to bring her work to a wider audience beyond experimental music circles.
Musician, composer, improviser and producer, Jim O'Rourke (born in 1969 in Chicago, lives and works in Tokyo) is an essential figure of the American independent rock and post-rock scene (his solo records released on Drag City or in groups with Gastr Del Sol and Sonic Youth have all become classics of the 1990s and 2000s) as well as experimental and electroacoustic music. His collaborations are countless: Illusion Of Safety, Christoph Heemann, David Grubbs, Loren Connors, Wilco, Henry Kaiser, K.K. Null, Günter Müller, Voice Crack, Evan Parker, Phill Niblock, Mats Gustafsson, Tony Conrad, Faust, Space Streakings, Loose Fur, Fennesz, Diskaholics Anonymous Trio, Carlos Giffoni, Keiji Haino, Masami Akita, Masaya Nakahara, Takehisa Kosugi, Fire!, Akira Sakata, Oren Ambarchi, Stephen O'Malley, Kassel Jaeger, Anthony Burr, John Fahey, Tortoise, Stereolab, Red Crayola, Guided By Voices, Merzbow...
