Les bêtes

Céline Guichard - Les bêtes
In Les Bêtes, Céline Guichard's world has softened through her interaction with animals—whether furry, feathered, or scaly. The strangeness that permeates her drawings is still palpable, but in a lighthearted and perversely alluring way. This compendium showcases the beauty of natural forms, even if mutation is never far away—the tiger has a beard, birds are adorned with sharp accessories, and the cat is a rug...
Céline Guichard (born in 1970) is a visual artist who creates strange, surreal, fantastical, and grotesque images inspired by her obsessions with human biology, dreams, nature, and transgression. Since the early 2000s, she has been very active on the global contemporary drawing scene through her contributions to numerous magazines, such as Hôpital brut, La tranchée Racine, Minchõ, Hey!, AX magazine, and others; her gallery exhibitions; the many monographs she has published; and her regular collaborations with engravers, screenprinters, poets, and writers.
