Photographie et écologie

Lisa Mazenauer - Photographie et écologie
How does photography depict our environment? How does it contribute to its destruction? This book explores this paradox through the analysis of the work of fifteen contemporary artists.
Since its inception, photography has been inextricably linked to ecology – through its materiality and through what it depicts. This book presents fifteen artists addressing shifting ecosystems. Through five chapters organised around emotions, the author puts these contemporary artistic practices into perspective with the history of the photographic medium. She offers an introduction to the subject, an invitation to dialogue, and a sensitive and critical association between images and ecology.
Lisa Mazenauer (born 1996, lives and works in Lausanne, Switzerland)is a visual artist who explores the links between memory and extractivism. Through photography, film, sound and installation, she questions the construction of history and the impact of human ambitions on landscapes—both physical and psychological.
