Monographie rétrospective et exhaustive : ouvrage le plus complet à ce jour sur l'œuvre de Ser Serpas, Loogie retrace de manière anti-chronologique la première décennie de la pratique multidisciplinaire de l'artiste, en réunissant 650 illustrations ainsi que des textes spécialement commandés pour l'occasion.
Ser Serpas is passionate about corporeal and poetic forms of expression, which she explores both as a painter and a sculptor. Her aesthetic practice investigates boundaries between the body—most often represented nude and fragmented—time, and the ephemeral images that lie in-between, as well as the notions of identity, intimacy, sexuality, and theatricality. Her sculptures are built around discarded objects that bear the traces of their past uses—a collection of disparate elements that she assembles to create free-standing works playing with materiality and transformation as the "aftermath of a private performance or choreography." She considers this process of composition a crucial phase of her process, as the objects acquire new significance when brought together. Her paintings capture situations where paint and bodies interact and undergo changes.
As Alberro and Alter write in their essay: "Her artworks probe the possibilities of agency when everything seems to repeat and stand still. They lead viewers to the edge of purpose and uncertainty, to the dividing line between determination and disruption. But Serpas' artistic practice also brings her audience to the brink of function and collapse, recognizing that what lies beyond is a complex zone of transition that gives meaning to both sides of the equation, holding the potential for transformation and renewal."

Ser Serpas (née en 1995 à Los Angeles) a résidé à Genève, Paris, Tbilissi et New York. Elle est diplômée de la HEAD Genève et de la Columbia University à New York. Artiste multidisciplinaire, sa pratique associe la sculpture, la poésie, la peinture et le son.
