Loïc Raguénès -
The monochromatic prints, drawings and paintings of the “neo-pointillist” artist (monograph).
Published following the artist's solo show at Frac Languedoc-Roussillon and the collective exhibition “L'humanité mise à nu et l'art en Frac, même” at Casino Luxembourg in 2005.
Loïc Raguénès (born 1968 in Besançon, France, lives and works in Dijon) digitally decomposes miscellaneous photographs by applying a web of half-tones, then carefully paints the result with light monochrome shades, emphasizing the abstract dimension of the image. An elegant "neo-pointillist" work that involves the status of the reproduced image, as well as representation, optical sensing, memory and emotions conveyed by the contemporary iconography.
