Handbook

A comprehensive visual study of the presence of the hand in history and culture.
From the handprints of Cueva de las Manos to the constant contact we maintain with our devices today, hands remain a profoundly human marker: tools of expression, labor, communication, and identity. Handbook is an image-based research project developed in collaboration with curator Fabiola Alondra. The publication brings together and catalogs her ongoing investigation into the presence of hands across time and context, forming a visual study that spans art, science, technology, and culture. Through this collection, the hand emerges not only as a functional instrument, but as a universal imprint, one that connects us across histories, geographies, and ways of seeing.
Fabiola Alondra (born 1984) is a Mexico City-born iconologist, curator, and writer drawn to the pre-modern world, esoteric traditions, and ritual practices. Her interdisciplinary work, spanning curatorial projects, research, and writing, draws on art history, cultural history, archaeology, and anthropology to examine how ancient practices intersect with contemporary understanding.
