This first monograph presents four projects created by Damir Avdagić over a 10-year period and features texts by art historian Sabeth Buchmann, writer and journalist Slavenka Drakulić, art historian Jasmina Tumbas and visual artist Mary Kelly.
Avdagić's practice examines the socio-political implications of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia (1991-95) through text, performance and video. By collecting stories spoken by members of the Yugoslav diaspora and activating them through strategies of performance, Avdagić reflects broadly on historical memory, identity and transgenerational transmission.
Prijenosi/Overføringer/Transmissions provides a visual survey of four projects created by Avdagić between 2014 and 2024. In addition, the publication features texts by Sabeth Buchmann, Slavenka Drakulić and Jasmina Tumbas as well as a conversation between visual artist Mary Kelly and Avdagić, giving a deep insight into the processes, methods and subject matter of his work.
Born 1987 in Banja Luka, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Damir Avdagić c lives and works in Oslo, Norway and Athens, Greece. Avdagić's practice explores themes of historical memory and identity through text, performance and video.
