The enigmatic oil paintings of Sicilian-born artist Tancredi Liliana Salone, “premonitory memories” of a disturbing future, a dystopia steeped in ancient images.
Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at Arsenic galerie, Paris, in 2025.
Tancredi Liliana Salone was born (in 1964) and raised in Palermo, Sicily. After studying architecture, he worked in several studios, where one of his projects was selected for the Venice Biennale in 1985, a defining moment that marked the beginning of his exploration into new artistic dimensions.
At the age of twenty-five, Tancredi Salone left Sicily for London, where he immersed himself in underground circles. Between electronic music, experimental cinema, illegal raves, and psychedelic experiences, he drew much of his inspiration from the Cyberpunk science fiction universe, which deeply shaped his artistic vision.
He later moved to Bologna, where he resumed drawing and painting with renewed intensity and continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts. His works were quickly exhibited in Milan, Turin, Genoa, and Bologna. Publications such as Il Beneficio dell'inventario and Festina Lente, along with his participation in various festivals, including the Sierre Festival (Switzerland) in 2013, marked a turning point in his career, highlighting the originality and depth of his approach.
Today, Tancredi Salone lives and works in the canton of Valais, Switzerland, where he is fully dedicated to his pictorial and graphic research. His art continues to be enriched by his past explorations, while being driven by a constant search for meaning and beauty through the visual medium.
