Beyond The Land of Minimal Possessions is a multi-faceted project involving a short movie project carried out by French artist Lili Reynaud-Dewar. This horror movie deals with issues of gentrification, privatization and commodification of art, land, ideas and freedom.
The movie, set in Marfa and in the Texas desert, depicts a group of 8 young artists from Haute école d'art et de design - Genève struggling to find meaning in their engagement in the field of visual arts. Between fiction and reality, it is a complex yet fascinating scenario reporting and mixing residency's events (a profesionnal seminar) and a collective fictitious nightmare.
The artist plays her own role and addresses these questions of the professionalization, gentrification, and economy of the arts, inviting prominent figures such as Swiss artists Ramaya Tegegne and Laurent Schmid; American artists Heyd Fontenot, Martha Wilson and Mike Smith; French cultural theorist Dorothée Dupuis, art historian Ida Soulard and film producer Olga Rozenblum.
Composed, performed, mixed by Nicolas Murer at Studio Les Floralies in Grenoble in 2018, using Roland MC-808, Roland SH-101, Roland JUNO-106 and MAM MB33.
Pulling from a multiplicity of influences – fashion subcultures, radical design, or the history of cinema –, Lily Reynaud Dewar (born 1975 in La Rochelle, France) draws slanting lines between her personal history and some universal cultural signifiers. She often identifies with icons of cultural or racial transgression, such as writer and activist
Jean Genet, visionary jazz musician
Sun Ra, or dancer Josephine Baker. Thanks to the use of performance and the text, and through ever-changing roles and the interplay of people and objects, Reynaud Dewar creates a dialogue that challenges fixed identities, or the politics of the exhibition.

Ton Ami, etc., member of Drosofile, Gueule Ouverte and Jack Nicklaus Tribute Band, is the founder of Stochastic Releases, based in Grenoble (France).
