This project by artist, singer, curator, and visual poet Boris Ondreička is in fact two books in one: "John Doe & Joe Bloggs" is a long poem, laid out in a portrait-oriented format, while "Hi! Lo." is constituted by experimental texts—i.e., in the terms of the artist, "autonomous artworks, theoretical performances, list of titles, etc."—put together in a landscape format. Created between 1994 and today, the diagrams, schemes, drawings, sketches, poems, and other elements are an improbable collection of projects using the page as site.
Boris Ondreička (born 1969, lives in Bratislava, SK) has exhibited his works in Manifesta 2 in Luxembourg; "Generation Z" at P.S.1/MoMA (New York); the Venice Biennale; Mumok, Secession, and TBA21 in Vienna; the Kölnischer and Frankfurter Kunstverein; Le Plateau
(Paris); and De Appel (Amsterdam); among other venues. As a curator he has worked with Lois & Franziska Weinberger, Jef Geys
, Carl Michael von Hausswolff
, Franz Pomassl, Denisa Lehockà, Stano Filko, Jiri Kovanda
, Július Koller
, and many others. He co-curated Manifesta 8 in Murcia, Cartagena, in 2010.
