Celebrating Jacques Villeglé's centennial, this retrospective publication—designed as a black-and-white album/magazine (complete with a sheet of colorful stickers to place on certain pages!)—traces nearly sixty years of work by a "flâneur," a collector of posters torn down by anonymous hands.
Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at the Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois Gallery, Paris, September 11–October 31, 2026.
A founding member of the New Realists and a friend of Raymond Hains, Jacques Villeglé (1926-2022), a pioneer of urban art, has been recognized mainly as a "collector" of posters taken down from the walls, torn up and reorganized in order to appropriate these "reflections of the dominant culture" and to make typographic components emerge that had become abstract.
