KyōtoEn un éclair

Lionel Marchetti - Kyōto
A poetic wander through the city of Kyoto, between observation and listening.
Kyōto – en un éclair  is a collection of poems born during a journey to Kyoto in May 2023, when musician and poet Lionel Marchetti accompanied the Chœur tac-til to capture sound materials for the film Un Chant Aveugle ( in progress) by Stefano Canapa and Natacha Muslera. The text evokes a poetic wandering through the city—hills, temples, alleyways, construction sites, ceremonies, and invisible presences—moving between observation and listening. Enriched with film stills and photographs, the book stands as one of the many expressions of this collective and sensory experience.
Lionel Marchetti (born 1967 in Marseille) is a composer of musique concrète—his compositions are often described as a true cinema for the ear—as well as an improviser (electronics, various analogic systems with modified speakers, REVOX reel-to-reel recorder…) and a poet. He also writes essays on the art of musique concrète from the perspective of a practicing artist. To sum up his work in a single phrase, he likes to quote Kenneth White: "Concrete or abstract? I love the abstract where a trace of substance remains, the concrete that refines itself at the borders of emptiness."
Foreword by Cécile Sans.
Afterword by Natacha Muslera.
Film stills by Stefano Canapa.
Images by Lionel Marchetti.
