In Ta Ta, an artist's book for children, Sonia Kacem plays with close ups of her prints, repeating and layering them while experimenting colours and textures.
The vivid, free-flowing shapes give the images a sense of rhythm. Landscapes emerge from within the patterns, accompanied by snippets of sound, as if telling a story.
Sonia Kacem (born in 1985 in Meyrin, lives and works in Geneva and Amsterdam) is a Swiss and Tunisian artist. In her work, she explores the frontiers of abstraction with an approach both minimal and baroque. Through intense work on colour, material, language of shapes, ornamentation and gesture, she creates compositions, sometimes of impressive dimensions, that invite to immersion and visual pleasure.
