Atom Egoyan -
A study on Atom Egoyan's early works.
Next of kin, Family Viewing, Speaking Parts, The Adjuster, Calendar, Exotica... Egoyan's films are nourished by the aesthetic innovations of video and visual arts. Moreover they are questioning the perverse role of images in the technological age.
A Canadian from Toronto, born from Armenian parents, filmmaker Atom Egoyan (born 1960, Cairo) was awarded the Prix Spécial du Jury at Cannes in 1987 for his second film Family Viewing and achieved international success with Exotica in 1994 and The Sweet Hereafter adapted from a novel from Russell Bank in 1997. More recently, he directed Ararat (2002) on Armenian genocide, Adoration (2008), Chloe (2010) and The Captive (2014).
