Camouflage Consciousness

Murat Adash - Camouflage Consciousness
Camouflage theorized as an expanded ecological and choreographic tactic.
What happens when a body begins to shimmer? When its edges flicker and rehearse new formations as its presence vibrates with the surroundings?
Camouflage Consciousness moves from ayahuasca-inflected cosmologies to performative experiments in spectral presence so as to reconfigure the edges between bodies, environments, and ways of knowing. Merging choreographic thinking, philosophical reflection, and somatic practice, this publication unfolds as two intertwining parts: a written manuscript and a visual-textual constellation of choreographic works. Tracing camouflage not as concealment but as a technique of permeability, a corporeal strategy for inhabiting thresholds, queering visibility, and sensing otherwise, Murat Adash develops a sensory language of thresholds, shimmer, and relation. Drawing on Indigenous cosmologies, queer theory, "plant thinking," and post-humanist thought, the manuscript introduces three interlaced propositions: camouflage as somatic-spatial technique; correspondence as co-responsive relation; and choreography as a grammar of movement that animates the space between bodies and refigures how relation comes to matter. For artists, scholars, dancers, and readers engaged in performance, artistic research, multispecies studies, and the politics of perception, Camouflage Consciousness offers a lexicon for attuning to difference and moving with alterity within a space of shifting proximities, porous thresholds, and altered modes of relation.
