Masse Sepolte

Francesco Arena - Masse Sepolte
A complete documentation on Francesco Arena's installation for the Italian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale.
Francesco Arena's book Masse sepolte illustrates the production of the installation conceived by the artist for the exhibition vice versa of the Italian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale (Venice, Tese delle Vergini, Arsenale, 1 June – 24 November 2013). Through a rich sequence of photographic images, the authors' critical analyses and the artist's direct voice, the volume retraces the conceptual genesis of a work rich of historical and cultural references, its production, its installation. Images and texts allow to contextualize the work in the frame of Francesco Arena's artistic research, and in his investigation and re-interpretation of the unlimited layering of history.
Born 1978 in Torre Santa Susanna, Brindisi, Francesco Arena lives and works in Cassano delle Murge, Bari.
Edited by Ilaria Marotta.
Texts by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, Alessandro Rabottini, Elena Volpato.
