Wilfrid Almendra -
First monograph: a transversal survey and a critical analysis of the sculptural work of the French artist who questions the suburban destiny of modernist utopias.
This publication presents a rich array of illustrations of Almendra's work, together with photographs taken from his research archive. Zoë Gray's essay “The Constant Gardener” surveys Almendra's practice since 2003, while Etienne Bernard's essay “Forms of Situations” concentrates on his series of works titled Reconstruction for a Monument. The text by Sarah C. Bancroft, “Villa America” takes the reader on a roadtrip through the Amercian West—the landscape of her childhood—which she revisits through the materials and references of Almendra's series Killed in Action (Case Study Houses).
