Le verdissement des Alpes

 - Le verdissement des Alpes
Between science fiction, popular science, art history and visual theory, Le Verdissement des Alpes (Greening of the Alps) examines current and future changes in Alpine environments in relation to global warming and the biodiversity crisis.
The thirteen chapters, each designed to stand alone, offer a unique perspective on the phenomenon of greening, the changing habitability of the mountains, as well as on the environmental humanities and their current influence on the visual arts. The visual component of the book, designed by artist et film-maker Pauline Julier, is not conceived as an illustration of the texts: the images weave an additional narrative, running parallel to that of the text, which takes us from the cosmis scale to the heart of the matter.
This publication is the result of an interdisciplinary research project entitled "Deserts of Ice, Oases of Life" conducted at the EDHEA (HES-So Valais) in 2024–2025.
