Daunik Lazro, Michael Nick, Michel Doneda, Laurent Hoevenaers - Aerolithes (CD)
A quartet of string and woodwind instruments brings together masters of free improvisation.
Daunik Lazro, a musician of integrity, has again shown an extraordinary faithfulness to the style first produced in his debut. It is a reflection of passionate memories generated by incantations from Albert Ayler and the dynamic Ornette Coleman, which Daunik Lazro freely expands and diversifies in his collaborations with Michel Doneda (in a trio with Le Quan Ninh, and again with Serge Pey: " Les Diseurs de Musique"). In Michael Nick and Laurent Hoevenars' generation of string players, the classical and jazz music cultures failed to create a desire to produce the riches obtained by a complete opening of their instruments. This new offering gives an appreciation of the Daunik Lazro's musical poetry.
The CD was recorded by François Dietz in concert on 26th October 2001 at CCAM, Scène Nationale de Vandœuvre.
