Fly Me to Oulan_Bator

Founded in 2023, Fly Me to Oulan_Bator extends the experience of La Revue Monstre, an independent journal co-created by Gilles Beaujard and published between 2009 and 2012. Across four issues and a carte blanche at MAC/VAL, Monstre brought together contemporary art, the humanities, and literature around questions of gender and homosexuality. Each issue alternated between theoretical texts and carte blanche contributions by artists. Its various issues are now held, among other institutions, at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Bibliothèque Kandinsky at the Centre Pompidou, and the Archives de la critique d'art in Rennes.
Fly Me to Oulan_Bator seeks to extend this experience by making editorial design an integral part of each publication. The books are developed in close collaboration with artists and authors: their form, rhythm, materials, and the relationship between text and images are shaped by each project rather than determined by a pre-existing series or graphic model.
