Martin Bigum

Martin Bigum's paintings borrow from the 19th-century Nordic tradition, "magical realism" of the inter-war period, and comic books from the 1960s. Passing easily from one mode of expression to the other (poetry, painting, music), the artist deploys a form of complex allegory to which there is no real equivalent on the contemporary art scene.
