Lorenza Longhi. Nella Villa Delizia accompanies the artist's first solo exhibition in an Italian public institution, presented at the Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Prato. Through a newly commissioned body of work, Longhi explores the visual and material languages of consumer culture, fashion, interior design, and advertising, revealing the systems of desire, value, and aspiration embedded within everyday objects and images.
Combining textiles, screen-printing, found materials, and site-specific installations, the exhibition transforms the gallery into an environment where decoration and display become tools for critical reflection. Moving between seduction and irony, Longhi investigates how aesthetics shape social behavior and collective fantasies, while questioning the boundaries between luxury and banality, authenticity and performance.
Richly illustrated, the publication documents the exhibition and offers an overview of Longhi's recent practice through critical essays, installation views, and detailed reproductions of the works on display. Together, these materials provide insight into one of the most distinctive artistic voices of her generation.
Lorenza Longhi (born 1991 in Lecco, Italy) is a Zurich-based artist whose practice reworks everyday objects and visual elements, from furniture to advertising, into crafted assemblages and paintings. Educated at ECAL Lausanne and Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, she explores how design, communication, and material choices reflect and reproduce systems of power. Her works recombine references with varying levels of visibility, balancing irony, resistance, and precision to transform the fleeting into something enduring.
