Les Carnets du BAL #12 – Qu'est-ce qu'une image populaire ?

Les Carnets du BAL, published by LE BAL (Paris) and Les presses du réel from 2021 onwards, aim to explore the challenges of the contemporary image and to apprehend the notion of the visual "document" in all its diversity. Each subject is addressed through theoretical contributions, presentations and analyses of works by renowned artists, philosophers, historians, anthropologists and critics, based on examples chosen from the fields of photography, video and cinema.
