While the Dust Quickly Falls

Fatma Bucak - While the Dust Quickly Falls
A project by artist Fatma Bucak that considers the relationships between political violence, environmental destruction, and climate change.
Moving across disparate geographies in the Mediterranean region that are connected by the catastrophic impact of conflict and war, While the Dust Quickly Fall project dwells on the loss of biodiversity, humanity's interdependence on the natural world, and healing. In works ranging from a living environment to performance, video, sculpture, and sound works, the artist questions how humanity is ethically implicated and entangled in ecological transformation and destruction.
Published following the eponymous exhibition at Kunsthaus Dresden en 2022.
Born 1984 in Turkey, Fatma Bucak lives and works in London and Turin. Investigating the fragility, tension and irreversibility of history, the power of testimony and memory, her practice often questions traditional forms of history-making as well as cultural and gender norms.
