Kiila

Kiila ("Wedge") is the oldest functioning nonaligned leftist writers' and artists' association in Finland, founded in 1936 as a counterforce to fascism and right wing censorship. Kiila's members (leftist workers from the arts and cultural field, for example writers, critics, researchers, artists and journalists) represent various viewpoints and political affiliations. No one is expected to conform to one definition and part of Kiila's work includes open discussion on how to best work together. However, essential values include: leftism, feminism, anti-racism, anti-capitalism, anti-fascism, anti-ableism and LGBTQIA+ rights.
