Former member of the GRM (Groupe de recherches musicales), writer, theorist, director, teacher, Michel Chion (born in 1947) is considered as one of the most original composers in the field of concrete music, continuing with his own style and universe in the tradition of
Pierre Schaeffer and
Pierre Henry, but also referring to cinema, romantic music... Indifferent to technical fashions, faithful to the microphone and the tape recorder, he created a diverse and very contrasted work incuding religious pieces, "melodramas", collections... He is also an active and militant defender of the genre.
