Cuadernos Pica Pica

Sol Calero - Cuadernos Pica Pica
Sol Calero – Cuadernos Pica Pica is an evolving monographic publication in the form of a serial magazine, serving as the definitive documentation of the artist's work and practice.
Issues 01–05 cover her practice from 2013 to 2023 and are released as a set in fall/winter 2026, featuring in-depth texts and full-colour photography. The publication takes its name from the Venezuelan spirit and chapel in Los Llanos, which is said to grant wishes to those who visit.
Sol Calero (born 1982 in Caracas, lives and works in Berlin) is best known for her site-specific installations of entire Latin-American interiors in which the public is invited, often to enact conventional scenarios. She creates work that explores themes of representation and identity, often through immersive environments filled with colourful patterns and textiles. Embracing a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, found objects, textiles, video, sound, and site-specific installations, Calero's conceptual approach is underscored by weighty questions surrounding hospitality and belonging.
