Yang Yong -
A monumental retrospective spanning over 1,000 pages of the Chinese artist's creative practice from 1996 to 2025, organizing his thirty-year journey into six chapters, each covering a five-year period.
The book offers a comprehensive view of the evolution and logic of his work. It features a wealth of previously unpublished material, including more than 1,300 high-resolution images and thirty-nine key texts. The artworks span diverse media, from photography to video, painting, and multimedia. Each chapter is structured around sections, such as artist portraits, statements, contact sheets, works, exhibitions, reviews, interviews, and publications, presenting not only the artistic output of each stage but also the conceptual trajectory and spirit of experimentation behind it.
Chinese artist Yang Yong (born 1975, lives and works in Shenzhen) continuously switches his practice among different media such as photography and painting, as well as in various spatial settings, exploring the understanding of self, society and the existential conditions of individuals under the themes of globalization, urbanization and mediatization.
