Young Creatives

Anoush Abrar - Young Creatives
A hundred black and white portraits of students from ECAL – University of Art and Design Lausanne, made between 2013 and 2016 by photographer and teacher Anoush Abrar.
“This project is an intimate, personal experience. Through these portraits of students, I speak a little about myself, and my experiences… And then, one day, it came to me. They were there, at ECAL, the School of Art in Lausanne, and I wanted to sublimate them.
The series of young creatives contains a hundred portraits of up and coming artists. I wanted to immortalize this fragment of existence, to stop time. For some, these school years will be just a rite of passage, and for others, it marks a detour, or even a turning point.”
The work of photographer Anoush Abrar (born Teheran, lives and works in Lausanne and London) could be described as provocative, fun, creative or unique. Always inspired by his sense of rarity and his appetite for renewal. Though on the surface his work orients itself in the tradition of fashion photography, by deliberately over- or understating in his images he creates his own and very glamorous signature. His highly seductive imagery and nose for provocative stories bring a constant new wind to his photography. He is professor of photography at ECAL – University of Art and Design Lausanne.
