Journal pendant mon séjour à Paris en 1720-1721

Rosalba Carriera - Journal pendant mon séjour à Paris en 1720-1721
The journal of one of the first women artists of the history of painting.
Venitian artist hosted in Paris in 1720, invited to the court of Este in Modena, then in Vienna in 1730, Rosalba Carriera, one of the first women artists, is mainly known through her numerous portraits in pastel. She catered to an international clientel: Venitian noblemen, German and Danish princes, French aristocrats all of whom acclaimed her clear direct style unifying worldy appearances and true psychology.
Little known is Rosalba Carriera the prosaic chronicler who kept a journal during her year in paris between August 1720-September 1721 in which she gives a astonishing account of encounters, visits, posing sessions, financial worries and more socio-political concerns touching the Regency, the deviations of the legal system, courtly intrigue or the art world centred around the Academy of Painting and Sculpture.
