Amy O'Neill

Born 1971 in Beaver (USA), Amy O'Neill lives and works in Geneva and Brooklyn. She uses the strangeness of her own culture as well as the Swiss culture where she lived and worked for some years. She copies situations and objects from local folklore to reveal the uncanny that lies just beyond the banal. Each time reality is rebuilt as a background. All her works exploit the idea of the vernacular, but in particular the idea of standard representation.
