Complejo de carne

Mehdi Beneitez - Complejo de carne
The cycle of nature, in all its magnificence and cruelty.
Complejo de carne is a reprint of the 28-page, six-color screen-printed book published by Mehdi Beneitez in 2017, which quickly sold out.
Its title comes from the expression "le complexe de la viande," which in Bordeaux referred to the butchers' district. Mehdi Beneitez uses it to describe the complexity of nature—the intertwining of plant, animal, mineral, and visceral forms. Creatures with a gentle appearance—rodents or primates—sometimes conceal less appetizing interiors within them, much like the old encyclopedic images of dissected bodies, where the internal organs were delicately illuminated with watercolors.
Mehdi Beneitez (born 1976, lives and works in Bordeaux) is an illustrator, cartoonist, screen printer, and musician. Since the early 2000s, he has been creating graphic work of great finesse, often inspired by old anatomical and zoological illustrations. He shares his creations and those of other artists through his project, Éditions du Parasite.
