A photographic investigation into geometric sublime in nature.
Patterns: Art of the Natural World reveals the intricate patterns woven into the fabric of our planet, from animal markings and grand landscapes to geological formations and botanical designs. Spanning volcanic coasts, icy fjords, lush rainforests, and deserts, the photographs capture nature's geometry—from hippo trails in Botswana to ice caves in Svalbard. Many images were made close to home, along California's coastlines, forests, and deserts, showing that beauty and pattern exist wherever nature thrives. Each image offers a new perspective on the harmony and symmetry of the natural world. The essays by explorers and scientists celebrate the interconnectedness of life and stand as a testament to the fragile, timeless artistry of nature.
