The Art of Kazuhiro Hori

Kazuhiro Hori - The Art of Kazuhiro Hori
This book is the first monograph devoted to the work of Kazuhiro Hori. Through a selection of his most emblematic paintings, it offers an introduction to the oppressive universe of the Japanese artist, populated by anemic teenagers and evil stuffed animals.
We will discover these strange high school girls who, in settings littered with toys, sweets, disturbing and familiar objects, engage in painful, intrusive, non-consensual and sometimes traumatic exchanges. By traveling through this fascinating and unique parallel world, we will be able to glimpse a part of its mystery and appreciate its unspeakable beauty.
Kazuhiro Hori was born in 1969 in Tokyo. He graduated from Kanazawa College of Art. Having made painting his main discipline, he depicts a certain nightmarish vision of adolescence in his disturbing and surrealist works. He regularly exhibits his work in his home country and internationally. He also teaches contemporary art and drawing in Japan.
