Landscape

In 2017, Shane Lavalette crossed Switzerland to do a photo essay on Swiss rural life. To that end, he followed the itinerary taken some eighty years ago by Swiss photojournalism pioneer Theo Frey. This publication juxtaposes these old and new views of the Swiss countryside to offer up an unusual and moving portrait of a nation.

Produced as a follow-up to three previous publications edited by Mamco between 2010 and 2017, this monograph is a compilation of found images associated with Yvan Salomone's own photographs. It also features an interview with the artist and new essays examining his practice.

Then architecture student Gabriele Basilico photographs the suburbs of Glasgow on a late summer afternoon of 1969, with its Scottish kids, terrains vagues, and 19th-century industrial archaeology. A photographic baptism for Basilico, who will become one of the main contemporary figures of the medium. Shot in South Africa in 1992, Moyra Davey's Gold Dumps and Ant Hills is a series of black-and-white photographs of mounds left behind by two types of excavation—one human and one animal.
