Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira and Cinemateca Portuguesa jointly publish a catalogue raisonné dedicated to Oliveira's extensive filmography. This publication aims to be the most thorough and comprehensive book published on Oliveira until now. It includes several unpublished documents that are part of the filmmaker's archive on deposit in Casa do Cinema, and features especially commissioned essays on Oliveira's work authored by António Preto (Director, Casa do Cinema), José Manuel Costa (Director, Cinemateca Portuguesa), Mathias Lavin (film scholar and writer) and Bruno Roberti (film critic), together with selected critical texts and extensive information on each film. A biographical note and full bibliography is also included.
Manoel de Oliveira's (Porto, 1908-2015) oeuvre is one of the most original chapters in the history of
cinema. His work has received universal recognition as demonstrated by the host of awards from film festivals and academies worldwide.
