Dunja Herzog - I know it\'s a zebra when i see stripes
Catalogue / artist's book.
The book project, conceived by the artist and designed by studio-stg Berlin, consists of a mix of photographs from the two exhibitions and some original texts, written by different authors, which accompany the narrative flow of the images. In the two exhibitions the artist realizes sculptures and installations by assembling industrial materials with objects found in places that belong to her everyday life which she isolates or combines.
Published following two exhibitions by Dunja Herzog, Laughter is usually at the end of the conversation at Istituto Svizzero, Milan (2013) and I know it's a zebra when i see stripes at Piano nobile, Geneva (2014).
In her work Dunja Herzog (born in 1976, lives and works between Basel and Glasgow) questions the images, as well as the uses and the place of the things that surround us. her sculptures are hybrid objects whose nature and function stay unclear. Combining a certain familiarity with peculiar forms and proximities, they suggest a world inhabited by imaginary beings and landscapes.
Edited by Dunja Herzog.
