Morice Lipsi (Lipszyc) was born 1898 in Lodz (Poland). He worked in Paris since 1912, when he settled at “La Ruche”, kind of cosmopolitan village, where also lived Chagall, Soutine, Modigliani, Zadkine, Apollinaire and many others. In 1922 he has his own personal exhibition at gallery Hébrard in Paris. 1927 he met Hildegard Weber. Since 1960 he obtained many public orders for monumental sculptures in France, Japan, Israel, Germany, Czechoslovakia and Island. Many of his works can be found in public and private collections. He died 1986 in Küsnacht-Goldbach near Zurich.
