A Constructed World (Geoff Lowe & Jacqueline Riva) have an expansive project that incorporates different modes of presentation and address. They have ongoing works such as Explaining contemporary art to live eels, The Social Contract and Hobbes Opera. At times they have formed groups, such as Speech and What Archive, working with artists, curators, writers, an art historian and a philosopher to make transmissions that incorporates speech, conversation, philosophical texts, music and singing.
For ten years they produced Artfan magazine, their first foray into publishing, followed by the web magazine SPEECH, and also the publications of Speech and What Archive. They have developed ongoing working relationships with curators that have expand into durational modes of presentation, such as their one-year program of installations and performances at CAPC musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux, curated by Charlotte Laubard, a series of performances at La Panacée, Centre de Culture Contemporaine de la Ville de Montpellier, presented over four months, curated by Sébastien Pluot. With Étienne Bernard they organised the exhibition “Speech Objects” at the Musée de l'Objet, Blois, inviting numerous artists and curators to participate in a changing six-month pogram, ending with a banquet work for sixty participants by Fabien Vallos and Jérémie Gaulin.
A Constructed World's work concerns itself with not-knowing as a shared space, transmission, translation and satisfaction without delay. During their first survey exhibition, at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melbourne, they proposed the series Change Forums, inviting more than thirty guest speakers to discuss the topics—Collectivity, Losers and Failure, Publishing Without Publishers, The Changing Audience For Contemporary Art and Politics and Art.
