Homo scriptor

Gottfried Honegger - Homo scriptor
Honegger' eclectic writings since 50 years.
« Mysticism, Bad taste, infantile, historicism, playful... these are just a few of the epithets of the official art today. This Zeitgeist crops up on the walls of galleries, museums and private collections like mushrooms. Just the sight of such arrogance and down right stupidity makes me sick. There isn't the slightest trace of mastery of grandeur, clarity, architecture, colour or form. There is no utopia of hope, obligation, nothing introducing a new and better world. Everywhere I look, I see kindergardens for the petit-bourgeois smelling of naphtaline and cabbge. The poverty of art has a wretched odor vented toward democratic skies. Our liberty and well-being have not only given birth to little mice but snuffed out the noble. No trace of Paul Klee or Piet Mondrian. The art scene is more preoccupied with sweater designs. The great minds and passions have migrated to the universities. Researchers are the ones who reign today. They bring hope. They maintain faith and will... and meanwhile, the artists are taken up with Mickey. »
Gottfried Honegger
A Swiss painter and sculptor, Gottfried Honegger chose to follow the path of constructive abstract art or concrete art, made of elementary geometry, of severe restrictions on color and of high sobriety to evacuate the emotional.
