All work and no play

Nicolas Giraud - All work and no play
A typographic composition inspired by Shining accursed writer's manuscript in which only appears one sentence, constantly repeated: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
All work and no play is a “phantom-literature book.” This project by Nicolas Giraud unfolds beyond fiction, between writing and serial abstraction. This is the first edition of the typescript initiated by Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. The work is structured in two parts, the typescript and its analysis, thanks to which the original work and its critical approach hold a dialogue through a series of notes.
Limited edition of 250 numbered copies signed by the artist.

Published following the exhibition “Intérieur, neige” at Cneai, Chatou, in 2011.
Nicolas Giraud (born 1978 in Saint-Etienne, lives and work in Paris) was trained as a photographer and uses the concept and tricks of photography to build and replicate artworks in a complex game of mirrors. His objects, texts and images share a common interest in deconstructing the notion of image as a material, technical or mental fact.
