Tove Storch -
First publication devoted to the young Danish artist's work.
“When I use soft materials to create solid looking objects it's like an examination of sculpture in general.” Through the images of the work by Danish artist Tove Storch and the words of S.M.A.K. curator Thomas Caron, whose conversation with Storch is scattered throughout the book, this publication introduces the reader into a minimalist universe made of metal structures mixed with delicate materials such as silk and paper, and informed by dualistic relationships between strength and fragility. The final result is a publication that offers the fresh take of a young emerging artist on a historicized yet still very actual topic in art history: the modernist sculptural gesture.
Published on the occasion of Tove Storch's exhibition at SMAK, Ghent, in 2013.
Tove Storch (born in 1981, lives and works in Copenhagen) combines in her work cool minimalist forms with delicate, fragile and sensual materials, reflecting on sculptural presence, form, colour and the experience of space.
