The contributions map the development of the curatorial field, from early independent curating in the 1960s and 1970s and the experimental institutional programs developed in Europe and in the USA at this time, through Documenta and the development of biennales.
Hans Ulrich Obrist (born 1968 in Zurich, lives and works in London) is a curator and critic active in the international contemporary art field. He is currently Co-Director of Exhibitions and Programmes and Director of International Projects at the Serpentine Gallery, London.
