Christoph Meier

The works of Christoph Meier (born 1980 in Austria, lives and works in Vienna) focus on the performative and narrative possibilities of media and presentation formats as such. Besides themes like mutability, imitation and recognition, his approach therefore highlights the artist's act of going public and the audience's acts of ascribing meaning. Also, the gap between the original, its copy and further copies corresponds to the creative scope that Meier's objects mark out. Recent solo exhibitions include Secession (AT), Kunsthaus Graz (AT), MUSA Museum auf Abruf (AT), Fonderia Battaglia (IT), The Program at Hochschule für Bildende Kunst (DE) and KIOSK (BE). Meier's work was included in group exhibitions held, between other venues, at Austrian Cultural Forum (USA), Kunstverein in Hamburg (DE), Galleria Collicaligreggi (IT), Kunstraum St.Virgil (AT), Cité internationale des arts (FR), 21er-Haus (AT) and Frac Auvergne (FR).
